Makeover a Bedroom on a Budget

As the years pass, your bedroom can begin to age and look dull and drab. But who has the money to completely upgrade a room? Thankfully, breathing new life into a bedroom doesn’t require a lot of money. In fact, you can change the entire look of a room without spending a small furniture. The following tips will show you how to makeover a bedroom while on a tight budget.

Start by Decluttering
The best and most cost effective method to making over a bedroom is to declutter it. Remove items that don’t promote relaxation and are instead of distraction. If you must have items that could hinder sleep, keep them hidden in a decorative container.

Scour Thrift Stores and Yard Sales
If you’re looking for inexpensive bedroom furniture, thrift stores and yard sales are a great place to start. Not only do they sale various types of furniture, but they also have a wide array of décor and home furnishings – such as bed sheets and comforters – that you can use to makeover your bedroom. The items you find at thrift stores and yard sales are gently used, though you can sometimes find new items, and that is why they are priced so low.

Rearrangement
The simple act of rearranging the furniture in the bedroom can greatly alter the look of the room. So don’t be afraid to try out a new arrangement. After all, if you don’t like it, it’s fairly easy to switch it back. While you’re at it, you may as well flip the mattress to promote even wear.

Add a Headboard
You can upgrade the appearance of your bed by adding a headboard. Even if the currant bed isn’t equipped for a headboard, you can use a wall-mounted style to get the same look. Another option is to purchase an inexpensive headboard stencil that you will use to paint the headboard onto the wall.

Upcycle the Dresser
Drastically change the look of that old dresser or nightstand by painting or wallpapering the front of it. For a more feminine look, choose a floral wall paper or bright the room up with some bold colored paint. Also consider replacing the hardware on the dressers with decorative ones. You can either purchase new hardware or look for vintage ones. Just make sure the knobs you choose fit with your style and the look of the room.
