It was during the pandemic that I learned how to prepare our favorite fishball sauce at home. We can’t go out during the lockdown and there’s no ambulant fishball vendor that roam around the village so for my family’s indulgence, I practiced making fish sauce at home.
Here are the ingredients:
2 cups water
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp flour
4 tablespoon soy sauce
3/8 cups brown sugar
Mix water, flour, cornstarch and sugar
Bring to boil and stir gradually.
Add chopped onions, garlic, chili and pepper.
Stir until the sauce thickens.
Serve with your favorite fishball, kikiam, squidballs or chicken ball.
