Mom & Baby Expo 2017

Last January 24, I was invited at the launching of Mom & Baby Expo 2017 at Romulo’s Cafe in Quezon City. I was curious why the invite indicated that it is the “first ever” Mom & Baby Expo. I have participated in several expo that aims to educate motherhood. Most expo I attended were organized by companies that caters to mothers and babies need. I thought I was the only one who query why “first ever”, but it turned out during the event that most attendees were asking the same.

Finally, Dra. Belen Velasco, president of Perinatal Association of the Philippines explained that it’s their very first time to organize Mom & Baby Expo. PAP has been around for 26 years and their members were doctors like gynecologists, obstetricians, pediatricians, even nurses and midwives with decades of proven and justified experience in their field of expertise. They mainly focus in teaching doctors from all over the country.

Dra. Velasco said that they have envisioned doing the expo for the longest time, and this is the right time for them to reach out to moms, expectant moms and wanna be moms.

“Our objective is simple yet powerful: to impart advices and traverse new ideas moms and expectant moms can use that will ultimately strengthen their maternal bond with their babies,” added Dra. Velasco.

Even the past president of PAP, Dr. Diosdado Mariano was present during the launch. He said that the expo is an opportunity to analyze and seek solutions to existing issues pertaining to maternal-fetal and newborn areas in an engaging and fun ways.

Moreover, the expo is open not only to pregnant mothers, expectant moms, but also to those who are still planning to conceive.

I agree when the experts said that planning when to have a baby is very important. It’s one of many issues that will be tackled during the expo. Aside from educational and informative activities, lucky attendees can win in raffles too!

PAP partners with trusted affiliates – the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecology Society; Philippine Pedriatrics Society; Philippine Society of Newborn Medicine; Mother and Child Nurses Association of the Philippines and the Integrated Midwives Association of the Philippines.
