If you’re like most parents, keeping your children healthy is a top priority. However, you may not know where to begin as you seek to ensure that your kid maintains a lifestyle conducive to physical wellness and psychological well-being. Here are three health optimization strategies to get you on the right track:
1. Talk To Your Child About Drugs.
Children are oftentimes under pressure to conform to group values which will ensure that they fit in to the crowd at school. In many cases, children feel compelled to use illicit drugs in order to appear cool to their peers. Since drugs can severely compromise your child’s physical and mental health, it’s important that you continually speak with him or her about the dangers of these illicit substances. You may even want to purchase drug testing kits to determine whether your child is currently under the influence of anything that could cause harm.
2. Emphasize A Healthy Diet.
Children are very impressionable, and this is why their youth is a wonderful time to emphasize a healthy diet. Although children will oftentimes gravitate towards sugary sodas, cupcakes, chocolate bars, and other items that detract from wellness, you can start introducing them to delicious, nutritious meals and snacks right now. A great example would be a healthy trail mix chock full of nuts and dried fruit like cranberries and raisins.
3. Set The Standard.
Although many parents don’t want to admit it, their children are oftentimes unhealthy because of them. For example, if you keep junk food in the house and consume it regularly, your child is much more likely to follow this unhealthy pattern. For this reason, it’s important that you set the standard of health in the home setting. One great way to get started is by purchasing a gym membership for the entire family. This way, you can show your child that you view exercise as a priority and get her or him engaged in the activity as well!
Don’t Delay-Start Optimizing Your Child’s Health Today!
If you want your children to be healthy, there’s no time like the present to get started. While there are numerous health optimization strategies you can implement, the ones listed above can be particularly helpful. By talking to your kids about drugs, optimizing their diets, and setting good standards, you’ll likely find that your child becomes the healthy, happy person that they deserve to be!
These are such good tips. i think it evn applies to us grown ups. we need to emphasize a healthy diet and we shouldn’t delay optimizing our health
point number 3 is really important and i find it’s usually the point many parents choose to ignore, and they will tend to use the excuse of “you’re too young to eat this” to stop the child from eating those unhealthy junk food. not a good example at all.
So true when you say about setting standards. Sometime with junk food around the house, the standard goes down as you say. Also the opposite is true, when comparing the children with others esp in their school toppers, they get so stressed with too highly set bar of standard!
I find nos 2 and 3 with utmost importance. Parents must be seen as good examples especially when it comes to eating healthy and choosing healthier options. It’s so difficult pa naman to do that here in the Philippines because Filipinos are foodies, but good habits always start at home.
Basics start at home — well balanced diet, exercise and sports. I teach them to avoid vices like smoking and alcohol at all costs, emphasizing on the disgusting effects on the body.
I think the best is for parents to be a role model for their children when it comes to healthy meals and good diet. When they cook nutritional food of good value and actually let children appreciate the taste and importance, the kid will ultimately like it and be happy about it.
It’s also important to make sure you live by rules as well when it comes to eating healthy. Explaining to them why you’re choosing to live the way you do is also helpful.
It really helps that they get to learn about proper health and diet early. It’s also important that we set good examples for them to emulate.
My kid loves eating junkfood and candies. Yes i know its bad but the funny this is she also loves eating veggies and fruits. Esp banana and grapes that she eats almost everyday.
My kids are still small but these issues should really be tackled when the right time comes. This is a very huge responsibility to us parents and I hope I will do well soon.
Great tips. It’s almost important to set a good example for your children, such as with things that you eat or serve on the table, exercise routines, etc.
Mums always put their kids before them, which is so wonderful and beautiful witnessing the love. What you wrote is definitely true, educate your kids NOW, not tomorrow, not later on, but immediately.
