Tips for the Kitchen Champs

Most homemakers devote much of their time and energy in their kitchens. In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, the challenge for most is how to make kitchen moments less stressful. Homemakers are always on look-out for less complicated food preparations. Here are some tips to help you make smart choices for your kitchen time to be more enjoyable and fulfilling.

Not all pots and pans are created equal, they are made for a specific purpose. You need a pan with thicker bottom to retain more heat while frying and a deeper pot for boiling soup to avoid spilling.

Major or minor kitchen accidents can also be avoided by using the right cooking utensils. On the side of cooking labor-intensive dishes, there are available products in the supermarket that can offer convenience at a fraction of your budget. You just need to try and discover products that suit you and your family’s taste.

Among Pinoy households, it is fairly common to cook home-style fried chicken. It is a time-tested tradition to marinate chicken meat in soy sauce, pepper and calamansi overnight before frying, to achieve the desired delicious home-style fried chicken. This marinating habit is tedious, messy, requires many ingredients and is quite costly. But now, there is a better way to do this.

Food company Ajinomoto captures this well-loved Pinoy tradition and offers a convenient way to cook your fried chicken through SoQuick 15-minute Marinade Mix. As the name suggests, this product can cut your preparation time as it only involves 3 simple steps: dissolve, marinate for 15-minutes and fry. SoQuick contains authentic home-style marinade ingredients such as soy sauce, calamansi, natural spices and seasonings that seep through the meat in only 15 minutes, making your fried chicken delicious, juicy and tender.

Working mother Karen Tuazon shares “I like the fact that I can marinate in just 15 minutes and my fried chicken would already have the right blend of sourness and saltiness. I would usually need more time to do this.”

Mrs. Arnylyn Salvosa, mother of 3, got curious when she saw SoQuick from the grocery. “I saw some people got it from the shelf and so I read the label. I remembered being excited to try it at home.” She then recounts what little effort it took to cook and serve delicious SoQuick Fried Chicken and appreciates that she can do this more often without any hassle. And as for her kids, “They love the tenderness and juiciness of the chicken. They would usually dip it in ketchup but with SoQuick, they enjoyed the chicken on its own,” Mrs. Salvosa added.

Pen Alvina, Ajinomoto’s Category Manager for Menu Seasonings also explains “SoQuick gives that kind of deliciousness that permeates through the bones of your fried chicken, which is what makes it a must-try product. You have to taste it to believe!”

  1. That’s true! I am always looking for things that will help me cut down cooking time because I am a busy mom and I have a lot of things to do.. 😛

I have tried Ajinomoto products and I love how they have ready-made batters and mixes for most Filipino dishes. 🙂

  2. its really convenient to use these instant marinate stuff but i prefer it old school… maybe its just me… i just really love to cook and i like to experiment with natural herbs and spices =)

  3. We’re lucky now that we have all the conveniences of Ajinomoto and all the other mixes to make cooking a breeze. I honestly hate cooking because of the preparation one has to do before you can actually cook. Thank God for instant mixes and marinades! =)

  4. Oh wow! I’m really not a kitchen person, so somebody else in the family does the cooking for all of us. I might just share what I’ve learned from this post to her. 🙂

  5. I love the convenience. Would you believe I cooked papaitan for the very first time because powdered apdo in sachet is now available here in Dubai? =)

    absolutely tastes good too!

  6. I think it’s ok to use ajinomoto and other seasonings but always at a moderate usage 🙂

Then again, it’s hard to argue against tasty and delicious food. hehe

  7. I’m no cook, though some studies has disproven the bad effects of MSG to our body, I still try to stay away from using these “mixes” and MSG.
